Gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (GC/FID)

Gas chromatography is used to separate the components of a rubber compound by passing the vaporized compound through an absorbent column using helium as a carrier gas. The separated components can then be detected by flame ionization (FID). The LRCCP uses the proven Perkin Elmer Clarus 500 Gas Chromatograph. This GC/FID system is used for routine analyses as well as for research and development. It can be used to compare the concentrations of various agents and additives in rubber formulations against our library of reference samples.
