Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)

Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)

This analysis technique is used to determine the mass composition of a rubber compound by subjecting it to a specific thermal cycle under a given gas atmosphere. The variation in the mass of the sample that is recorded according to the temperature gives a Sankey graph which can be exploited quantitatively and constitutes the characteristic footprint of the material.
The analyzer is equipped with Autostepwise software to provide high resolution for the best possible separation of components that change state within a similar temperature range.

Results:
  • Composition by weight (polymer, carbon black and mineral filler content)
  • Thermal stability
Equipment: Perkin Elmer Pyris 1 TGA thermal analyzer

Associated standard(s):

  • ISO 9924-3
  • NF T 46-047
